Our Work – UK-China Transparency

We focus our research on the most important, ambivalent and disputed aspects of UK-China ties, where the clarity provided by detailed investigative case studies is of most value and there is urgent need for the best information.

We divide our work into five main categories, although many of our investigations span several or slip in between the cracks of these. We tend to study phenomena taking place in the UK, not in China.

Our research is conducted primarily using open source information, information found online. We also make use of academic resources available through institutional subscriptions. Occasionally, for information behind a paywall or some other block, we have enjoyed the ad-hoc support of one or other organisation.

For example, on a few occasions in the past, we have been able to access Chinese corporate data with the help of Datenna, a China data company. In addition, we also consult human sources in a journalistic way, with due deference to confidentiality and personal privacy.

We are very serious about getting our facts right.
