Sam Dunning

Director and Trustee

Sam is one of the UK’s leading investigative researchers focusing on China, having begun his work on the country in 2020, two years after graduating from Cambridge. His research has featured in major news outlets in the UK and abroad, and informed an award-winning Channel 4 Dispatches documentary of which he was associate producer. He is an associate fellow at the Royal United Services Institute and an honorary visiting fellow at City St George’s, University of London.

Tim Law

Deputy Director

Tim has a wealth of public and third sector experience, at an executive level. Resident in Beijing through the pandemic, he majored in Chinese foreign and security policy in postgraduate education and worked on China from a defence and security perspective for five years, including three in a senior diplomatic appointment for the British government. He is also an experienced charity trustee, with interests in human rights and media freedom, alongside expertise in researching the People’s Liberation Army and other aspects of China’s hard and soft power.
