UKCT has published data collected by the China Strategic Risks Institute, which has published the first of a series of studies on Joint Institutes set up by British universities in China.
The data consists of archived webpages describing the Joint Institutes, and Freedom of Information (FOI) data collected from British universities. This data describes the institutes’ governance and the number of degrees bestowed through it.
The data can be viewed in UKCT’s library, in a folder named “UK-China Joint Educational Institutes (China Strategic Risks Institute investigation)”.
A list of the institutes is published here. They include: the Aberdeen Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at South China Normal University, Glasgow College Hainan, Lancaster University College at Beijing Jiaotong University, The Queen Mary University of London Engineering School at Northwestern Polytechnical University, the Southampton Ocean Engineering Joint Institute at Harbin Engineering University, the Sussex Artificial Intelligence Institute at Zhejiang Gongshang University, and several dozen others.
