A key part of UK China Transparency’s mission is to host a unique digital library of primary sources relating to the relationship between the UK and China, such as whistleblower documents, material translated from Mandarin and other Chinese languages, and information released by public authorities in response to Freedom of Information requests.

We work with various other organisations and groups to publish, in the interests of critical scholarship and further research, the data behind research projects other than our own. If you have data you’d like to share with us, please get in touch at [email protected]

Guide to use

The library is organised into master folders. Generally, each master folder relates to one of UKCT’s projects or a project by another organisation for which UKCT is hosting primary data.

Each of these master folders then contains the further files and subfolders relating to the project. To open folders, simply click on them.

Please note that file names do not necessarily indicate anything significant. We are still improving our library. For example, the search function currently scans the content of files and retrieves results based on your search. Whilst the search function provides accurate results, the excerpts of those results appear jumbled for some files.

The search function does not currently work properly for Chinese character text. We will be introducing this feature as soon as possible.
